How to Hack the Library

The UAA/APU Consortium Library provides many resources and services that will make your hectic campus life much easier. The four tips below are essential to academic success.
  • Take a Tour: There are several ways to get to know the many facets of the library, including our self-guided audio tour. Stop by the Circulation Desk to check out an MP3 player and headphones and soon you’re off to explore all three floors of our extensive facility. Got a smart phone and your own pair of ear buds? Then skip the Circulation Desk altogether and take the tour at your own pace by scanning the QR codes at each step. You’ll get a half hour overview of the various library collections and services, and enjoy a nice stroll at the same time.
  • Ask a Librarian: It’s never too early to get help with that intimidating research assignment lurking on your course syllabus. We have an approachable Reference Desk right in the middle of our beautiful Great Room, staffed by librarians who are waiting and eager to help you. Just walk on in - no appointment necessary. Even if you can’t physically be here, there are other convenient ways to Ask A Librarian for assistance – via phone, email, or website.
  • Bring your WolfCard: Your valid WolfCard is also your Library Card, an all access pass to many resources and services that the library has to offer: our generous borrowing privileges, printing and copying, research databases, placing items on hold, and After Hours admittance between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. Also remember that your WolfCard comes with a $12 printing allocation that you can use with any of the research computer printers on the first or second floor.
  • Get a Room: We have a total of 20 study rooms available for your use. Need to work on a group project? With two or more people, you can request one of our 16 group study rooms. They come complete with a whiteboard, comfortable furniture, and plenty of space to spread out in. Need some time alone? We also have four individual rooms for more serious study time. Walk-in patrons can request a room at the Circulation Desk, or rooms can be reserved up to a week in advance by calling 786-1871.
This is just a hint of all the great things that the Library has to offer. Please come explore when you get a chance! This is a wonderful place to visit often, stay late, and study hard.
